FIS Ipswich has been designing and installing stylish orangeries across Suffolk for over 10 years. Our professional team can design and install a beautiful new orangery to suit your needs and style of property.
Orangeries were originally built for the aristocracy as part of their large estates. They were used to grow exotic fruits and had large windows and lantern roofs to allow the light to flood in. Unlike a conservatory, they were mostly built of brick which would protect the fruit trees from the elements whilst growing.
Today when extending a home, an Orangery has become an increasingly popular option. They create a wonderfully light, bright additional living space and also add a real wow factor to your home. Furthermore, the brickwork used to build your orangery will generally match the original building which ensures an effortless blend between new an old.
We have installed many Orangeries across Suffolk in different shapes and sizes. So if you’re considering adding to your existing home – whatever your needs or style of property we can help!

Orangeries and Planning Permission
Orangeries and conservatories are generally classed as permitted developments and therefore do not usually require planning permission. They must however meet the required permitted development criteria (otherwise you will need to apply for the relevant permissions). Therefore if you’re thinking of adding an orangery (or conservatory) to your home, but are unsure as to the regulations for planning permission, just give us a call! Our experienced designers will be able to advise on the best solution to suit your needs.
